Week 1
1. When you hear the word "creativity," what comes to mind? How would you describe creativity?
When I hear the word creative, I think of art and music with people who are out the normal societal norms creating something that looks or sounds nice. Usually I correlate art and "creativity" together as one, most people in society does that as well. People would say they are not creative if they don't possess the artistic prowess that creative artist have, and I would say I'm guilty of that as well. I feel like I would now describe creativity as thinking for appeal and improvement rather than associating it with just art, every job will use a little bit of creativity to maybe make things easier for themselves or other people.
One thing that helped me is asking myself 'what other ways could this work?' no matter how silly or mundane the idea was, whether it's at work, school, or in stuff I like to do outside of those things. It's a journey trying to re-train your brain, and everyone's got their own way, but I think it's all about getting out of your comfortable way of thinking.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you have to say about creativity.
